WP6: Capacity building

Overall objective

The aim is to build the capacity for sustainable resource management through the training of a new generation of specialists in sustainable oil production in African research institutions, private companies and local communities. Local and regional knowledge of oil composition and production will be improved utilising networking and information sharing. Capacity building is a core component of QualiTree and it is integrated into all aspects of the project. This project promotes capacity building through the employment of young scientists and PhD students at the universities in Burkina Faso and Mali as well as through employment of local people within communities.

Specific objectives

6.1 To educate young scientists on state of the art quality control monitoring techniques
6.2 To educate industrial workers and local communities on the best practices for sustainable development of oil producing native tree plantations


works to improve sustainable use of local tree species for fair-trade production of oils for food and cosmetics in Mali and Burkina Faso through a collaboration between researchers, private industries and local communities.
